What is the best program in a gym for an overweight beginner?

I just bought a gym membership and start next week. I am, age 47 and not overweight in the form at all. I need to exercise for health reasons (diabetes) and weight loss. What a good program to start? The aquatic fitness exercise, exercise program superior, weight training, cycling, circuit training and a step class with weights. Or it could making activities outside the group when open gym. I do not want to embarrass me by not having a group, then I have to find a suitable program to begin and not quit.

I probably will start her doctor to make sure you are on a good diet program (which will help with your diabetes and make sure you have enough energy to develop and stay healthy while losing weight.) Then I meet with a personal trainer (most gyms offer this) to recommend the classes and understanding what you enjoy doing. But above all, do what sounds or having the most fun to do! That's the key. I hate sport but I like tennis, skating, etc, because I like doing things is much easier to motivate yourself to do. Think also a pilates class or type of stretching exercises to stay flexible ..
